Spencer baseball wins at Greenwood for first Cloverbelt East victory

GREENWOOD – The Spencer baseball team earned its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division win of the season as it rolled to a 12-4 victory over Greenwood on Tuesday at Greenwood Elementary School.

Spencer used four-run innings in the second and sixth to pull away and improve to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play this spring.

Tyler Peterson, Dalton Post, Reed Knecht and Carter Luepke all had two hits in the win for Spencer, with Knecht driving in two and Peterson scoring three times.

Weston Nieman picked up the pitching win, throwing 4 2/3 innings of relief with five strikeouts.

The two teams will play again Thursday at Spencer starting at 5 p.m.
