AUBURNDALE – The Stratford baseball team held off a late rally attempt from Auburndale and won 9-6 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

The Tigers cruised out to a 9-1 lead as Jack Tubbs delivered three hits and three RBI, and Vance Kielman had a pair of hits and scored twice to help build the big lead.

Auburndale pushed back in its final at-bat. Lundgren had an RBI single and Caden Weinfurter walked with the bases loaded before an error scored another as the Eagles cut the deficit to 9-4.

Nathan Richardson then cracked a two-run single before Stratford reliever Henry Zaleski was able to wiggle out of the jam to finish off the victory.

Stratford (6-3 overall) and Auburndale (5-2 overall) are both 2-1 in the conference and sit a game behind Marathon (4-1) in the standings.

Auburndale will travel to Stratford for a rematch Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
