EDGAR – Maycie Yonker hit a one-out home run in the bottom of the sixth inning for the game’s only run as Edgar shut out Stratford 1-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Tuesday at Edgar High School.

Stratford pitcher Laney Pankratz took a no-hitter into the sixth before the Yonker homer broke up the scoreless game. Pankratz finished with eight strikeouts and no walks, allowing just that one hit in the loss.

Edgar pitcher Morgan Streveler was just as brilliant on the mound, also allowing only one hit – a single by Gracie Schmidt in the second inning – and finished with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Stratford falls to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the Marawood South, while Edgar moves to 5-7 and 3-4 in conference play.

The two teams will play again Thursday at Hilgemann Field in Stratford at 4:45 p.m.
