STRATFORD – The Stratford softball team split a pair of games on Friday at Hilgemann Field, losing a Marawood Conference South Division game to Edgar 5-0 before rebounding for a 10-0 victory over Chequamegon in a nonconference contest.

Edgar (6-7, 4-4 Marawood South) completed a series sweep of Stratford (9-6, 4-4 Marawood South), as Morgan Streveler tossed her second-straight shutout against the Tigers.

Streveler struck out six, did not walk a batter, and had a double and three RBI in a five-run seventh inning for the Wildcats as they broke a scoreless tie late.

Stratford had five hits, including a double by Kalyn Schueller, but couldn’t scratch out a run against the Edgar right-hander for the second time this week.

Stratford came back from the loss to smack 12 hits and score 10 times, finishing off Chequamegon (10-4) in five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Laney Pankratz tossed a five-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts, and also had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Grace Schmidt finished 3-for-3 in the win with an RBI.
