Columbus Catholic boys basketball team wins WIAA regional opener over Granton

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team had little trouble from Granton, rolling to a 64-22 win in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Jared Boyle scored 16 points and Brandon Nikolai added 15 points to lead the Dons (18-5), who have won 16 of 19 games since starting the season 2-3.

Granton ends its season without a victory at 0-22.

Columbus, the No. 2 seed in its regional, will host Rib Lake (14-7) at 7 p.m. Friday at Columbus. Rib Lake beat Loyal 61-50 on Tuesday.

The Columbus-Rib Lake winner will play the winner of the Prentice-Greenwood game in a regional final on Saturday night at Marathon High School.
