MADISON – Two Marshfield youth wrestlers placed in the top-six at the Wisconsin Folkstyle State Wrestling Tournament last week at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
Mitch Hertel, an eighth-grader at Marshfield Middle School, took fourth place, and Samuel Mitchell, a fourth-grader at Nasonville Elementary School, finished sixth in their respective weight classes.
Hertel earned his third medal at the state tournament, adding to previous fourth- and fifth-place finishes. He wrestled at the USA Folkstyle National Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, this weekend and also qualified for the Greco/Freestyle State Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids at the end of April.
Mitchell earned his first state medal and will be taking part in the NUWAY National Tournament in Naperville, Ill., next weekend, as well as the Greco/Freestyle tournament in Wisconsin Rapids.
