Loyal rallies to beat Spencer softball

LOYAL – Loyal used a 10-run third inning to turn an early deficit into a 16-6 win over Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Monday.

Spencer led 3-0 after scoring twice in the top of the third inning, but Loyal responded with 10 runs in the third, four more in the fifth and closed out the game with a two-run sixth to win via the 10-run rule.

Spencer was hurt by four errors and pitcher Nicole Bruss’ 13 walks. Five of the 16 runs allowed were unearned.

Alyssa Brostowitz was 2-for-2, Danica Johnson walked twice, stole three bases and scored three runs, and Krystal Weier had a double and two RBIs for the Rockets (1-1 overall and Cloverbelt East).

Spencer is scheduled to play at Colby on Tuesday.
