Stratford softball rolls past Assumption

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Stratford pounded out 19 hits and scored in five different innings as it ripped Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 13-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Monday.

Haley Austin went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, and Rachel Ludwig, Jordyn Vanderleest and Sam Frombach each had three hits to lead the Tigers’ offensive barrage.

Hilary Belter earned the win on the mound for Stratford (2-1 overall, 2-0 Marawood South), striking out seven and walking one while scattering seven hits.

Stratford scored in each of the first four innings to take a 6-2 lead, then blew the game open with a five-run sixth inning.

Jenessa Denfeld had two hits and three RBIs and Hannah Schmitt added two hits and two RBIs for Stratford.

The Tigers are scheduled to play at home against Pittsville on Tuesday.
