MERRILL – The Marshfield girls soccer team continued its win streak with another dominating win.

Three different Tigers scored in the first half en route to a 4-0 win over Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday at Merrill.

Marshfield improves to 4-1 and 3-0 in the WVC after posting its fourth-straight shutout.

“We are certainly playing well on defense, especially, as the ladies have played with confidence in one another as we show the support of each other both in practice and the games,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said.

Emily Wolfe got the Tigers on the board after 25 minutes with a goal on an assists from Emily Brix.

Allison Gruen scored off a direct kick later in the half and Darian Molter scored off an assist from Maddie Smith with less than a minute to go before halftime to give the Tigers a commanding 3-0 lead.

Smith hooked up again with Molter at the 54-minute mark and Molter scored her second goal of the game to finish the scoring.

“We are doing a nice job of covering up for each other on defense as all six defenders (Sarah Wolff, Megan Marotz, Alyssa Brenner, Leah Cherney, Amy Voight and Aislinn Koehler) are playing nice rotational defense and being aggressive at the right times,” Lindner said. “All have really played well to this point and we hope to continue their strong play as we get into the difficult part of our schedule.”

The Tigers play at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
