Auburndale baseball drops season opener at Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – The Auburndale baseball team was limited to just five hits and fell to Pittsville 8-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday at Pittsville High School.

Austin Hawkins took the loss for Auburndale, allowing 11 hits and two walks, while striking out three in the Apaches’ season opener.

Jake Schar and Blake Anderson scored Auburndale’s two runs. No one had more than one hit.

Pittsville’s statistics were not provided. The Panthers improve to 7-0 and 3-0 in the Marawood South.
