Seven-run fifth inning propels Auburndale softball past Pittsville

AUBURNDALE – Trailing 5-4, Auburndale scored seven times in the fifth inning and defeated Pittsville 11-5 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Friday at Auburndale High School.

Kayleigh Kundinger was one of three Apaches with two hits and knocked in three runs in the victory. Heather Nigh and Stacy Brokish also had a pair of hits for Auburndale (3-7 overall and Marawood South).

Mikayla Jankowski, Elizabeth Krings and Nicole Nikolay each scored twice for the Apaches, which had eight of their nine starters score.

Pittsville falls to 3-5, 3-3 in the Marawood South.

Auburndale plays at Stratford on Monday.
