Auburndale girls rip Northland Lutheran

KRONENWETTER – The Auburndale girls basketball team showed its dominance early and rolled to another big Marawood Conference South Division victory.

The Apaches outscored host Northland Lutheran 19-0 in the first quarter and cruised to a 61-29 victory over the Wildcats on Thursday. Auburndale improves to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the Marawood South, and is 6-1 in its last seven games.

Kelly Tomfohrde scored 17 points, and Lindsay Gotz, Liz Breu and Kayla Nikolay each chipped in with 10 points for the Apaches.

Auburndale led 30-6 at halftime and the game was never in doubt, as the Apaches outscored Northland Lutheran 31-23 in the second half.

Auburndale is tied for third place in the Marawood South with Edgar, and hosts the Wildcats on Tuesday before playing first-place Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Feb. 12.
