Columbus Catholic girls tennis team opens season finishing 6th at Neenah St. Mary

NEENAH – Elizabeth Manlick went 2-1 to take third place at No. 1 singles for the Columbus Catholic girls tennis team’s top finish Wednesday at the St. Mary Central Invitational.

Green Bay Notre Dame won the eight-team meet, with the Dons finishing sixth.

“It was a good first match with very good competition for our girls,” Columbus coach Janet Orella said.

Lydia McIntee (No. 3 singles), Sam Kosnicki (No. 4 singles) and Jerra Kumm and Rebecca Lamermayer (No. 3 doubles) each went 1-2 to finish in sixth place in their respective flights for the Dons.

Columbus’ No. 2 doubles team of Riley Roehl and Maddy Harican went 1-2 and placed seventh.

Columbus plays at Antigo on Thursday in the opening match of the Great Northern Conference season, and hosts the Columbus Invitational on Saturday at Boson Courts.
