STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield girls swimming team won five of 11 events but came up just short in the point total, losing a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet at Stevens Point Area Senior High 89-81 on Thursday.
Marshfield’s wins included: Laura Josephson won the 200 freestyle in 2:13.55; Emma Holbrook took first in the 200 individual medley relay in 2:28.62 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.29; Paige Hawley won the 50 freestyle in 27.26 seconds; and the 400 freestyle relay team of Holbrook, Josephson, Hawley and Megan Marotz finished first in 4:03.55.
Marotz was a close second in the 50 free behind Hawley, finishing in 27.82 seconds, and Sarah Claessen took third in 28.87.
Marshfield hosts Medford on Tuesday.
