Matter, Schulz lead Spencer volleyball past Augusta

AUGUSTA – Tara Matter had 17 kills and Courtney Schulz added 15 kills and six blocks to lead the Spencer volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Augusta in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Thursday night at Augusta High School.

The Rockets won 25-7, 26-24, 26-28, 25-8 to improve to 13-4 overall and 2-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Augusta drops to 2-1 in the conference.

Setter Kyleigh Hebert had 44 assists, Dani Johnson had 19 digs, and Paige Johnson had 16 digs, two blocks, four aces and 10 kills for the Rockets.

“In Games 1 and 4, we really played the way we want to all the time,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Games 2 and 3 we were making it hard on ourselves with unforced errors. Tara Matter really attacked the ball all night.”

Spencer hosts Neillsville on Tuesday.
