Marshfield hockey teams to host first-round playoff games

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys and girls hockey teams will host first-round regional playoff games next week, the WIAA announced Monday.

The Tigers boys hockey team (7-15) is the No. 8 seed in their 11-team sectional and will host No. 9 Ashland (5-14) in a WIAA regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Marshfield Youth and Ice Recreation Center at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

The winner moves on to the regional final on Friday, Feb. 19 at Eau Claire Memorial at 7 p.m. Memorial (16-5-1) is ranked fourth in the state by wisconsinprephockey.net. The Tigers lost 9-0 to the No. 1 team in the rankings, on Tuesday.

The Marshfield girls hockey team (10-7-1) is the No. 4 seed in its eight-team sectional and will host the Northern Edge (Rhinelander/Antigo co-op) (8-13) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. The winner will take on the winner of No. 1 Central Wisconsin Storm (20-1) and No. 8 Lakeland (0-17) on Tuesday, Feb. 23 in a sectional semifinal.
