Marshfield graduate Danielle Carlson earns Big East volleyball honor at Marquette

MILWAUKEE – Marquette University junior middle hitter Danielle Carlson, a 2009 Marshfield High School graduate, was named to the Big East
Conference women’s volleyball weekly honor roll after hitting at a .600 clip with 15 kills and no errors in Golden Eagle’s 3-1 victory over South Florida on Sunday.

Carlson leads the Big East and ranks 21st in NCAA Division I with a .394 hitting percentage, while also helping the Golden Eagles rank second in the conference with an efficiency of .253.

Carlson is first in Marquette history with a career hitting percentage of .324 after passing Rabbecka Gonyo earlier this season with the required 1,000 total attempts.

The Golden Eagles (10-4, 1-0 Big East) return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn., before resuming conference play Saturday,
at Connecticut and Sunday at St. John’s.
