Marshfield girls tennis team wins WVC regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls tennis team swept the three doubles matches and went on to a 5-2 win over Wausau West in its Wisconsin Valley Cnoference regular-season finale Wednesday at Boson Courts.

The Tigers finished the season 2-4 in WVC dual meets and are tied for third place with 40 points heading into the conference tournament Friday at Wausau East and West high schools.

Marshfield’s No. 3 doubles team of Justine Bushee and Christine Philippe needed three sets to win its match, and the Tigers’ other two doubles teams won in straight sets.

Megan Hayes won at No. 1 singles and Emily Pingel won a three-set match at No. 3 singles for Marshfield’s other victories.

Doubles: 1. Cammi Warner-Victoria Jensen (M) won 6-2, 6-2; 2. Brittany Seidel-Erin Ott (M) won 6-4, 6-3; 3. Justine Bushee-Christine Philippe (M) won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
