Marathon closes out Stratford in 4th

STRATFORD – Alex Boehm scored nine of her game-high 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead Marathon past Stratford 42-29 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday at Stratford High School.

After a rough start, where Marathon took an 11-2 lead after the first quarter, Stratford clawed back and was in striking range, entering the fourth quarter down 24-18.

Sparked by Boehm’s nine points, and five by Hannah Seubert, Marathon closed out the victory and completed the season sweep of the Tigers.

Dani Austin scored 11 points and Keri Doll had nine points and seven rebounds to lead Stratford (3-13, 1-9 Marawood South).

Marathon improves to 8-8, 4-6 in the Marawood South.

Stratford returns to action Friday at Northland Lutheran. The Tigers’ lone Marawood win came against Northland Lutheran at home, 59-54 on Dec. 21.
