No. 1 West too much for Marshfield skaters

MARSHFIELD – Wausau West, the No. 1-ranked team in the state by wisconsinprephockey.net, scored twice in the first period and kept on rolling, beating Marshfield 9-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Tuesday at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Center.

Ryan Condon had a hat trick and Robbie Poirier scored twice – both players had two goals each in a four-goal second period – for the Warriors (21-1-1, 12-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

David Kluball had 39 saves for Marshfield, which falls to 7-15 and 3-8 in the Wisconsin Valley.

Marshfield wraps up Wisconsin Valley Conference regular-season play on Thursday at Wausau East. The Tigers open WIAA playoff action on Tuesday at home against Ashland in a regional semifinal.
