Oppman shines in Marshfield gymanstics team’s victory

TOMAH – Kami Oppman won the bars, balance beam and floor exercise to take all-around honors and lead the Marshfield High School gymnastics team to a resounding 123.275-97.25 victory over Tomah in a nonconference dual meet Thursday.

Oppman scored an 8.0 in the bars, 7.45 in the beam and 8.4 in the floor. She also placed second in the vault with an 8.2 to win the all-around with a score of 32.05.

Marshfield’s Myranda Schmitt won the vault with a score of 8.3 and finished third in the all-around (29.675), behind Oppman and Katie Golden (30.775). Golden was second in the bars (7.575) and the floor (8.25) and fourth in the vault (8.0).

Marshfield gymnasts swept the top five spots in all four events.

The Tigers close out their regular season Tuesday at Medford, then compete in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet in Stevens Point on Feb. 20.
