MANKATO, Minn. – Sully Luepke, a 2011 graduate of Marshfield High School, is the starting punter for the Minnesota State University football team.

Luepke, an all-Wisconsin Valley Conference and all-state punter at Marshfield, kicked 27 times this season for a 40.9-yard average through 11 games for the Mavericks. He has seven punts that were downed inside the 20, a long of 73 yards and four punts of 50-plus yards. He also completed one pass for 20 yards.

Luepke and Minnesota State will play in the Mineral Water Bowl against Northeastern State University (Okl.) on Dec. 3 at Excelsior Springs, Mo.

The Mineral Water bowl is a game that is traditionally played between the top non-playoff teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association. NSU (7-4) will join the MIAA in 2012.

Minnesota State finished its regular season with an 8-3 record and an 8-2 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, missing out on a NCAA Division II playoff berth.
