Kyleigh Hebert scores 19 points to lead Spencer girls basketball team past Columbus Catholic

MARSHFIELD – Kyleigh Hebert scored 19 points, made eight steals and had five assists to lead a depleted Spencer girls basketball team to a 46-37 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Tuesday at Columbus.

Hebert made 5 of 7 shots from the field and 9 of 13 from the free throw line to lead the Rockets (3-1 overall and Cloverbelt East). Aubrie Bissonette added 13 points and nine rebounds, making 5 of 6 free throws. Spencer made 18 of 25 free throws overall.

Spencer was playing without starters Tara Matter and Courtney Schulz, who are out with injuries.

Spencer led 15-7 after the first quarter and surged to a 28-17 lead by halftime. The Dons outscored Spencer by one point in each of the final two quarters but it wasn’t enough.

Abby Gotz scored 14 points and Elizabeth Manlick had 10 points, 13 rebounds and five steals for Columbus (2-6, 1-4 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer hosts Owen-Withee and Columbus plays at Greenwood on Friday.
