MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team made quick work of Merrill scoring twice in the first 1:45 and rolled to a 9-0 win in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Tuesday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.
Bo Howard and Schuyler Seyfert each scored a pair of goals and Zac Alboreo and Zach Leggon added two more to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead after the first period.
Seyfert completed the hat trick with a goal in the second period, and Noah Baur and Austin Littmann each added goals to complete the rout for the Tigers.
Mac Alboreo had 11 saves and netted his fifth shutout of the season for Marshfield, which won for the second straight time and improves to 8-6 and 2-4 in the WVC. Merrill falls to 2-8 and 0-4 in the conference.
Howard scored 1:25 into the game and Seyfert added another 20 seconds later to give the Tigers a quick lead.
Howard, Zac Alboreo, Seyfert and Zach Leggon all added goals in the final 10 minutes of the period to push Marshfield’s lead to 6-0.
Nathan Borchardt and Bobby Leggon each had three assists, and Littmann, Zac Alboreo and Nelson Spindler added two apiece for Marshfield.
The Tigers are off until next Tuesday when they play a nonconference game at Mosinee.
