Columbus Catholic boys basketball team grabs big road win at Greenwood

GREENWOOD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team overcame a slow start to knock off Greenwood 45-35 in a battle of two of the top teams in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division on Thursday night at Greenwood High School.

The Dons trailed 13-7 after the first quarter before rolling the rest of the way.

Tyler Derfus accounted for nearly half of the Dons’ points, scoring a game-high 21. Mike Iwanski added 10.

Columbus Catholic (10-2 overall) remains in a tie for first place in the Cloverbelt East with Augusta at 8-1, while Greenwood falls to 7-4 and 7-2 in the conference. Augusta knocked off Colby 72-66 on Thursday.

The Dons play at Loyal on Tuesday.
