Marathon roughs up Stratford girls basketball

STRATFORD – Marathon used a 19-2 advantage to pull away from Stratford in the third quarter and go on to a 55-29 win in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Stratford High School.

The Raiders (7-8, 3-6 Marawood South) led 21-14 at halftime before blowing open the game with a huge third quarter.

Stratford (9-6, 4-5 Marawood South) was just 9 of 38 from the field and 13 of 22 from the free throw line in the loss.

Brooke Schultze scored 15 points and had 14 rebounds for Stratford. She was 11 of 15 from the free thrw line.

On the other hand, Marathon saw eight different players score at least three points and was 14 of 18 on free throws. Rebecca Reiche scored 12 points and Brooke Seubert had 10 for the Raiders.

Stratford plays at Northland Lutheran on Tuesday.
