Colby cruise past Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball

MARSHFIELD – Colby outscored Marshfield Columbus Catholic 14-1 in the second quarter to open up a double-digit lead and cruise to a 55-24 win in Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball action Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Colby led 10-8 after the first quarter before holding the Dons without a basket in the second quarter and pulling out to a 24-9 halftime lead.

The Hornets (11-4, 8-3 Cloverbelt East) outscored Columbus (5-10, 4-8 Cloverbelt East) 31-15 in the second half to win going away.

Sarah Gamillo scored 11 of her 17 points in the second half and Corrine Meacham and Lisa Horacek each added 10 points for the Hornets.

Liz Manlick scored 11 points for the Dons.

Columbus returns to action next Thursday at Neillsville.
