Auburndale boys dominate rival Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – Tyler Pankratz scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Garrett Nikolay scored 14 points to lead the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 53-26 rout of Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Pittsville High School.

Pankratz made 7 of 8 shots from the field as Auburndale shot 49 percent (20 of 41) overall.

Nikolay hit 4 of 7 from 3-point range to fuel his 14-point game.

Jake Hansen added 11 points for Auburndale, which won for the ninth straight time.

The Apaches jumped on Pittsville early, taking a 16-9 lead after the first quarter and a 26-12 advantage by halftime.

Auburndale takes its win streak to undefeated Marathon on Friday for another Marawood South game. Marathon (20-0, 13-0 Marawood South) beat Auburndale 55-42 on Jan. 19.
