ABBOTSFORD – The Marawood Conference first-place crossover game was all it was predicted it would be.

Prentice, the North champion and ranked No. 1 in the state in Division 5, and South champ Auburndale, ranked third in Division 4, needed overtime to settle things before Prentice pulled away for a 58-48 victory on Saturday afternoon at Abbotsford High School.

Prentice (21-1) outscored Auburndale (21-1) 12-2 in the extra period to hand the Apaches their first loss of the season.

The game was tight throughout, with Prentice owning a four-point lead after the first quarter and at halftime. Auburndale outscored the Buccaneers by two points in both the third and fourth quarters to force OT.

Markus Kleifgen scored 19 points and Austin Hawkins had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead Auburndale.

Nate Erickson scored 10 points and hauled down 16 rebounds for Prentice.

Prentice outrebounded Auburndale 38-19 and held the Apaches to 3 of 16 shooting from 3-point range.

Auburndale hosts the winner of Tuesday’s Rosholt-Crandon game in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal next Friday at 7 p.m.
