Marshfield graduate Brad Dolezal wins Greco-Roman wrestling title at FILA Junior Nationals

MINNEAPOLIS – Brad Dolezal, a 2011 Marshfield High School graduate and a freshman on the University of Minnesota wrestling team, took first place in Greco-Roman and second in freesytle wrestling at the 2012 FILA Junior Nationals in Madison on April 14-15.

Dolezal, wrestling for the Minnesota Storm team, was part of the tournament that featured the nation’s best 17- to 20-year-olds in the Olympic styles of freestyle and Greco-Roman.

The top six wrestlers in each weight class and style qualified for the 2012 FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., in May 25-26. The FILA Junior World Championships will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, on Sept. 4-9.

Dolezal finished his freshman season with a 15-8 record for the Golden Gophers. He beat Dillon Cowan of USOEC 8-3, 6-0, to take the championship in his weight class in Greco-Roman.
