Columbus Catholic softball beats Owen-Withee to net first win of season

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team won its first game of the season, knocking off Owen-Withee 14-11 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

The Dons scored seven times in the first and five times in the third to take a 13-0 lead, then had to hold off a rally by Owen-Withee.

The Blackhawks cut it to 13-9 after scoring seven times in the fifth, but Columbus never relinquished the lead and held on for its first win.

The Dons had only two hits.

Columbus (1-11) plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday.
