MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids scored five times in the first inning and Marshfield could never mount a comeback as the Raiders rolled to an 11-1 win in Wisconsin Valley Conference softball action Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

The Raiders led 1-0 and a two-out error kept the first inning going, leading to four unearned runs.

Wisconsin Rapids added two more in the second and scored three unearned runs in the sixth against Marshfield starter Miranda Baierl (four strikeouts, six walks).

Marshfield had four errors in all, two contributing to seven unearned runs.

“It was a rough start and without it, it’s a whole different ball game,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said. “Getting behind early doesn’t allow you to do what you want offensively. We just had those untimely errors and they capitalized on our mistakes.”

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairgounds in its final home game of the season.
