Stevens Point softball knocks off Marshfield

STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point scored six times in the first inning and never let up, plating at least one run in each inning to run away to a 15-5 win over Marshfield in Wisconsin Valley Conference softball action Tuesday.

The Panthers (19-5) finish the WVC with a 11-1 record and claim their 15th straight conference championship. Marshfield falls to 4-15 and 2-9 in the Valley with a game at Wausau West on Thursday remaining on its regular-season schedule.

Taylor Hasz had RBI singles in the third and fourth innings, Caitlin Kozik had a two-run single in the third, and Miranda Baierl delivered an RBI single in the fourth to account for Marshfield’s five runs against Stevens Point’s winning pitcher Nicki Hauser.

Katie Treankler was 3-for-3 and Autumn Slowiak, Baierl and Hasz each had two hits for the Tigers.

Carly Lass, Hauser and Gabby Strojny all had three hits for Stevens Point.
