Spencer volleyball sweeps Greenwood, improves to 4-0 in Cloverbelt East

SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team swept its fourth straight match to start the Cloverbelt Conference East Division season with a 3-0 win over Greenwood on Tuesday at Spencer High School.

The Rockets won 25-12, 25-20, 25-15, to improve to 4-0 in Cloverbelt East play. Greenwood falls to 1-3.

Tara Matter had 13 kills, Tynae Phillips added 11 kills and two blocks, and Alicia Endreas topped the Rockets with 18 digs and two aces.

Brooke Kettleborough led Spencer with 39 assists and added two aces and 14 digs, and Paige Johnson added nine kills and 15 digs.

“We played a little slow offensively tonight, but our defense really seemed to frustrate them,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Brooke Kettleborough was everywhere tonight, and Tara Matter and Tynae Phillips kept scoring big points when we needed them.”

Spencer plays at Augusta on Thursday.
