Marshfield volleyball stays in WVC race with win at Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield volleyball team stayed in the chase for the Wisconsin Valley Conference title with a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday night at Lincoln High School.

The Tigers won 25-12, 25-18, 25-11, to improve to 9-2 in the WVC and 31-7 overall.

Marshfield plays its final conference match at home Thursday against D.C. Everest. The Tigers would need to win and have Wausau East upset Merrill to tie Merrill for the Valley title.

Setters Tori Nanstad (17 assists) and Courtney Bauer (12 assists) led the way for the Tigers’ offense. Tiffany Stargardt had a team-high 13 kills, with Bauer chipping in six.

Darian Molter led the defense with 17 digs and Chlesea Akin had six service aces for Marshfield.
