RIB MOUNTAIN – Marshfield’s Nolan Redetzke earned first-team all-conference honors by taking third in the boys race at the 2012 Wisconsin Valley Conference Cross Country Meet, which was held Saturday at Nine-Mile Forest.

Redetzke ran in 16:43.3, finishing 1.8 seconds behind second-place runner Evan Hutton of Stevens Point. Michael Larson of Stevens Point won the boys individual title in 16:19.8 to help the Panthers to their 25th straight WVC boys championship. Larson won the boys title for the third straight season.

Adrian Kaiser (14th in 17:31.8) and Max Tibbett (18th in 17:39.2) also added top-20 finishes for the Tigers, who were fourth in the team standings.

The Stevens Point girls also won the team title, its first since 2008, behind four top-10 finishes.

Rebecca Voss led Marshfield, finishing 12th in 16:10.3. Morgan Redetzke was 18th in 16:34.3 and Ashley Holubets finished 19th in 16:36.2 as the Tigers girls ended up fifth.

“Nolan ran a brilliant race today placing third overall in the conference,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “I also want to congratulate Adrian Kaiser and Rebecca Voss who both dug down and made sure they earned all-conference awards today.

“The boys and girls teams were so close to beating teams just ahead of them. We didn’t quite achieve our team goals today, yet I am pleased with their individual efforts. There are many quality runners in this conference and we had solid efforts today.”

Kenndi Knoblock of Wausau East won the girls race in 15:09.1, giving the Lumberjacks the individual title for the fifth straight year.

Marshfield will run at the WIAA Division 1 sectional on Saturday, Oct. 20, again at Nine-Mile Forest.
