Augusta edges Spencer girls basketball

SPENCER – Spencer was just 13 of 43 shooting and was outscored 17-9 at the free throw line in a 39-36 loss to Augusta in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Augusta made only 11 of 26 shots from the field, but used the free throw advantage to pull out the win.

Dani Nelson had 15 points and Courtney Shaffer scored 13 for Augusta (8-9, 7-7 Cloverbelt East).

Tara Matter had 11 points, six rebounds and six steals for Spencer (9-7, 6-7 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer plays at Granton on Thursday.
