Auburndale softball wins season opener at Edgar

EDGAR – The Auburndale softball team scored five times in the second inning and pulled out a 7-4 win over Edgar in the season-opener for both teams Friday at Edgar High School.

The game was moved from Auburndale High School due to poor field conditions, but the Apaches were still the home team.

The Apaches had nine hits in the win – two each by Camille Swart, Heather Nigh and Kelly Brokish. Brokish and Nigh each drove in a pair of runs for Auburndale.

Swart also earned the win on the mound for Auburndale, striking out six and walking five in a seven-inning complete game.

The Apaches play a doubleheader at Marathon on Monday.
