Marshfield boys golf team grabs second place at first Wisconsin Valley Conference meet

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys golf team finally got its season started and finished second in the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Friday at the Ridges Golf Course.

Stevens Point won the meet with a score of 333, followed by Marshfield with 342.

Kyle Hoffman of Marshfield was the meet medalist, shooting a 78. Teammate Josh Berres was fifth overall with an 82.

“Kyle’s round included three birdies and an eagle,” Marshfield coach Paul Foegen said. “For the first match of the year I thought we played very well, especially on the first 9 when we shot 163.”

Marshfield will compete at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday and the second leg of the WVC Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.
