WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys golf team finished second at the WIAA Division 1 regional on Wednesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club to qualify for next week’s sectional meet.
Ian Pillai tied for fifth with a 79 to lead the Tigers to a team score of 331. Craig Serchen was seventh with an 80, Josh Berres had an 84, and Zack Shortess and Kyle Hoffman each had an 88 as Marshfield placed all five of its golfers in the top 15 overall.
Stevens Point won the regional title with a 309 and will join Marshfield, Wausau West (341) and D.C. Everest (342) at the Division 1 sectional at Stevens Point Country Club on Tuesday.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on those qualifying teams move on to the sectional.
Trevor Thomas of Stevens Point was meet medalist with a 72, three shots ahead of Wausau West’s Matt Sandquist.
