AUSTIN, Texas – Oladipo Fagbemi, a 2009 graduate of Marshfield High School and member of the University of Minnesota men’s track and field team, qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships by taking 10th in the triple jump at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Championships at University of Texas on Saturday.
Fagbemi set a personal record in the event with a leap of 51 feet, 5½ inches, which is the fourth-best all-time in Minnesota outdoor track history.
Fagbemi will compete at the national meet on June 5-8 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
Fagbemi placed second in the triple jump at the Big Ten Conference Championships at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, on May 12. Fagbemi had a jump of 50-10 ¾, finishing just behind Mike Hartfield of Ohio State, who had a jump of 51-3.
