Marshfield Junior Legion baseball sweeps twinbill vs. Merrill

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Junior American Legion baseball team opened its home schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Merrill on Thursday, winning 12-8 and 9-8 at Jack Hackman Field.

Mitch Susa earned the win in the first game for Marshfield (3-1), giving up two runs and striking out seven in five innings.

Susa had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and Trevor Schwecke, Jack Donahue, Matt Meyer and Sam Klein added two hits apiece for the Blue Demons.

Klein was the winning pitching in Game 2, striking out 10 in six innings. Schwecke earned the save pitching the seventh inning.

Matthias Gouin had a double and John Edwards, Meyer and Cameron Swanson each had RBI singles for Marshfield.

Marshfield is back in action Friday with a doubleheader at Rothschild-Schofield-Weston at D.C. Everest High School beginning at 5:30 p.m.
