NEWARK, Ohio – Elliot Ashbeck, a 2012 graduate of Marshfield High School, is playing for the Licking County Settlers of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League this summer.

Ashbeck, who recently completed his freshman season as a member of the Bradley University baseball team in Peoria, Ill., won his most recent start as a pitcher for Licking County. Ashbeck tossed 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out six and allowing just three hits and two walks in a 5-1 win over Southern Ohio last Saturday.

Ashbeck is batting .147 (5 of 34) with three RBIs in 10 games. He has pitched in four games, two starts, and is now 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA (2 runs in 18 innings). He has 18 strikeouts, and had allowed just 11 hits and five walks.

Licking County is 13-8 and in third-place in the 10-team league, 1½ games out of first place. The Settlers return to action Thursday at Lima.
