Marshfield Legion outslugs RSW; Junior Legion loses two at Merrill, beats Point

The Marshfield Legion baseball team defeated Rothschild-Schofield-Weston 11-7 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game on Wednesday at Simon Field.

Aaron Schwecke had a double, two singles and four RBIs, and Daulton Varsho had a pair of triples, a single and also knocked in four runs for Marshfield (13-6, 6-1 WVLL).

The Marshfield Junior Legion team was swept in a doubleheader by Merrill on Tuesday, 11-5 and 5-4, but came back to beat Stevens Point 11-4 in a game Wednesday at Reeths Field.

Marshfield’s Scott Berg was a combined 6-for-7 with four RBIs in the two losses at Merrill.

Trevor Schwecke earned the win for Marshfield against Stevens Point. Schwecke threw six innings and Jeremy Brost earned the save with four strikeouts in three innings.

Sam Klein had three hits, Jack Donahue hit two doubles and Matt Kuhlka and Brost also had doubles for the Blue Demons (10-9-1).

The Marshfield Junior Legion team will be hosting a tournament from Friday through Sunday at Jack Hackman Field, while the varsity team will play in a tournament at Rochester, Minn., over the weekend.
