Marshfield Chaparrals edge Taylor County

MARSHFIELD – Kyle McHugh and Sam Schwanebeck each had two RBIs to lead the Marshfield Chaparrals to a 7-6 win over the Taylor County Sausage on Wednesday in amateur baseball action at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead only to see the Sausage (2-7) respond with four in the sixth and one in the eighth to tie the game.

The Chaparrals then plated a run in the bottom of the eighth off Taylor County reliever Fred Manke to grab the win.

Lucius Messerschmidt threw the final three innings, allowing one run, to earn the victory for the Chaparrals (9-3).

McHugh and Eric Pritzl each had two hits for Marshfield, which was plagued by six errors. Only three of Taylor County’s six runs were earned.

Marshfield plays at Eau Claire on Thursday.
