Columbus Catholic volleyball goes winless at Diocesan Tournament

CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team had a tough time at the Diocesan Tournament at McDonell High School on Saturday, losing all six matches.

The Dons dropped matches to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption (25-18, 25-22), Chippewa Falls McDonell (25-17, 25-10), La Crosse Aquinas (25-6, 25-21), Wausau Newman Catholic (25-14, 25-15) and Eau Claire Regis (25-19, 25-17) in straight sets. Columbus managed to win the first game in its match against Stevens Point Pacelli, before dropping the next two (18-25, 25-23, 25-15) and finished 0-6 at the tournament.

Katie Weister had 25 kills, Tara Brock had 28 assists and 36 digs, and Hannah Kruse had six blocks to lead the Dons.

Columbus Catholic hosts Northland Lutheran in a nonconference match on Thursday.
