Spencer goes 3-1 at Stratford Volleyball Invitational

STRATFORD – Marisa Johnson had 29 kills, four service aces and 47 digs to pace the Spencer volleyball team to a first place finish in the silver bracket at the Stratford Volleyball Invitational on Saturday.

The Rockets lost to Athens 25-22, 23-25, 15-13, in the opening match. Spencer then went on to defeat Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 25-15, 25-18; Abbotsford 25-15, 22-25, 15-8; and Wittenberg-Birnamwood 25-10, 25-20.

Tynae Phillips added 23 kills, four aces, 12 blocks and 37 digs; Lindsey Vaughan had a team-high 76 digs; and Brooke Kettleborough had 66 assists for the Rockets.

Spencer can clinch the outright Cloverbelt Conference East Division title with a win at home over Owen-Withee on Tuesday.
