Regis edges Spencer in five games to win Cloverbelt Conference volleyball crossover first-place game

EAU CLAIRE – The Spencer volleyball team came back from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth game, but lost to Eau Claire Regis 3-2 in the first-place match of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Thursday at Regis High School.

The Ramblers won 25-22, 26-24, 26-28, 17-25, 15-11.

“It was one exciting match,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “There is no way to prepare for the playoffs better than that.”

Marisa Johnson had 19 kills, three aces and 49 digs, and setter Brooke Kettleborough had 48 assists to lead the Rockets.

Macie Weber added 13 kills and three aces, Sydney Kind had 12 kills, Julia Berres and a team-high four aces and 36 digs, and Lindsey Vaughan had 68 digs for Spencer.

Spencer hosts Edgar in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
