UW-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team wins at UW-Marathon County

WAUSAU – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team won its Wisconsin Collegiate Conference opener 63-52 over UW-Marathon County on Wednesday.

The Marauders improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the WCC.

McKenzie Trunkel had 21 points and Corrine Meacham and Corina Craig each had double-doubles for the Marauders.

Meacham had 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and Craig had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Lynn added eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Marshfield.

Carly Coleman had 25 points and eight rebounds for Marathon County.

Marshfield charged out to a 44-29 lead by halftime and held on from there.

The Marauders play their home opener Saturday against UW-Waukesha at 1 p.m.
