UW-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team blows out UW-Baraboo

BARABOO – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County outscored UW-Baraboo 25-8 from the free throw line and shot nearly 50 percent from the field in a 92-54 rout in junior college men’s basketball action Wednesday.

The Marauders (2-3) shot 52 percent in the first half to take a commanding 48-29 lead at the break.

Marshfield ended up 25 of 38 at the free throw line, compared to Baraboo, which was just 8 of 13. The Marauders also held a 42-33 rebounding advantage, including 14-8 on the offensive boards.

Cale Weiler led the balanced attack for the Marauders with 20 points. Zach Zettler, Julius Glore and Makrus Kleifgen each added 18 points.

Marshfield opens its home season Wednesday against UW-Marinette. The women’s team plays at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
